akb is a choreographer, collaborator, performer, educator, producer, curator, advocate, and mother.

  • With Lila Hurwitz and Andy Russ, Ali is co-artistic director of Motion State Arts, which presents innovative dance-films and live performances from local, national and international artists.

    She curates a monthly dance event at the New Bedford Art Museum called “Twirl and Whirl” and works as a dance advisor and curator to the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, New Bedford, MA.

    • Choreographer-in-Residence: Moses Brown, Providence, RI. December 2015–March 2016. Ali will be facilitating an after school composition class for the upperclassman dance students.

  • Ali is part of a cohort of presenters engaged in the 2024 National Dance Presenters’ Form.

    She was the Secretary of the Board for New England Presenters (2021-24), which provides leadership and support for the presentation/development of the NE performing arts.

    She sat on the board of New Bedford Ballet (2021-22).
